An important aspect about Students' Unions is that we are run by elected Student Officers. Elections for different roles occur at different times of the year.

Start of Autumn Term - Places on Union Council, Union Committees, GSA and elections for Year reps.
Mid Spring Term - Elections for the Sabbaticals: President of the Union, three Deputy Presidents of the Union and the Felix Editor
Late Spring Term - RAG Chair, Council Chair, Welfare Campaigns Officer, CAG Chair, Club & Society elections, Faculty Union elections and Departmental elections.

Central Union Elections 2008
During October, the Union will be electing Ordinary Members of Council.
Union Council is the paramount policy-making, scrutinising and accountability body of the Union which meets 10 times during the year.
These Councillors are elected proportionately from the undergraduate and postgraduate Faculty constituencies and there is 1 'non faculty' member. Although these councillors are elected by faculty, they sit on council without a mandate, representing all full members of the Union.
Two Student Trustees are also being elected at this time.
These representatives sit on the Union Trustee Board is the governing body of the Union.
Trustee Board meets roughly six times per year to ensure that the Union is being run well and it does this by scrutinising the work of the Council and the Executive Committee.
Nominations for all these positions opens in the 4th October at 00.01 and close on the 19th October at 23.59. You can stand by going to imperialcollegeunion.org/vote. You will need to find 5 or 10 full members of the Union to second you (depending on which election) and they do this by logging on to the same website.
Voting opens on the 31st October at 00.01 and closes on the 4th November at 23.59.
