Imperial College School of Medicine Boat Club
The medics boat club has over 100 members and caters for rowers of all levels of experience and ability. Most of our new members will never have rowed before and will learn as part of a girl’s or boy’s novice squad. Each squad has a dedicated captain in a higher year, whose whole purpose in life will be to teach you to row, get you involved in social events and make your first year at university one which you will remember forever.
We race predominately in United Hospitalsevents against the London medical schools, as well as further afield in ARA events. Racing takes a number of forms, from time trails (heads), to side by side regatta racing and the unrivalled bumps races, where crews start line astern and attempt to tag the boat in front. It has to be seen to be believed! Off the water, the club has an unrivalled schedule of social events, including an annual foreign tour and numerous dinners. There is nothing like the post race celebration of another historic victory! Each year our freshers revitalise our club with their own character and enthusiasm; in return becoming part of our many traditions and unique culture.
